SMART Conveyors™
Twin chain drag conveyors from BE&E are highly refined, modular drag chain conveyors for material handling. These conveyors allow for wide customization from a catalog of shapes, sizes, and material options. We offer both top-drag and bottom-drag chain conveyors to best suit your needs. Future changes to the conveyors are as easy as bolting new sections in place. All sizes are available with straight sections, inside curves, outside curves, manual or automatic tensioning, direct drives in constant or variable speeds, feeding bins, manual or automatic conveyor gates, and more.

- Quiet – no metal-to-metal contact except for the chain on the sprocket
- Safe – direct shaft-mounted inverter duty drives – no pulleys, belts, guards, or pinch points
- Configurations and options – top or bottom drag with optional features: AR floor liners, electric or pneumatic gates, and conveyor monitors
- Finishes – painted, powder coat, galvanized, stainless steel conveyors
- Materials – wood chips, sawdust, wood shavings, bark, mulch, grasses, stover, distillers grain – virtually any bulk material
BE&E produces three series of conveyors to meet a range of bulk material handling requirements. The S-Series conveyors are designed to handle the majority of situations experienced by our clients. The M- and T-Series conveyors are designed with larger openings and more robust construction to handle additional volume and abuse. These larger series come with split heads for easy access to the head and tail sections.
- S-Series (available widths: 18″, 24″, 36″, 48″)
- M-Series (available widths: 24″, 36″, 48″, 60″)
- T-Series (available widths: 36″, 48″, 60″, 72″)
Slide Gates
For customers who require an emergency bypass system or control over-discharge, we can equip SMART Conveyors™ with slide gates. What makes our gates unique is that we program them to sense when they encounter an obstruction so they do not attempt to close, thereby burning out the motor. When our gates hit an obstruction, they open and close until the obstruction clears or maintenance is notified.
Support Mounts
We understand that the slightest deviance from design (such as unlevel concrete) makes it difficult to align and attach supports. Therefore, we designed 5′ mounting bars to attach our SMART Conveyors™ to structural support. These mounts provide a wide target area for installation personnel to hit so installation proceeds faster and with less interruption.
Conduit Brackets
Due to the plastic components in our conveyors, operations personnel cannot weld conduit onto our conveyors. For customers who wish to run conduit alongside our conveyors, we offer conduit brackets with plastic mounts. These brackets provide optimal flexibility when securing and replacing conduit.
SMART Conveyors™ are the most reliable drag conveyors available, but they aren’t indestructible. Technicians still need to maintain them, and process mishaps can lead to damage. So, we developed a reliability package that improves accessibility for maintenance and alerts operators of trouble before it gets worse.
The package includes:
- Paddle alignment sensor. The system monitors the conveyor for missing and misaligned paddles. It includes a proximity switch in the conveyor’s head and extra tabs on the paddle frames that trip the switch.
- Chain tension alignment switch. This system monitors the chain for proper tensioning. It consists of a proximity switch and a T-bar attached to the tensioning rod. The bar trips the switch when the chain slackens.
- Paneled access door. 60″ access doors provide maintenance technicians complete access to the conveyor’s interior. They are available in two- and three-panel sizes.
- Drilled and tapped bearings. We drill and tap the bearings to prepare them for temperature monitoring sensors. The sensors alert operators when the bearings overheat.
